The series is overall very good. Post apocalyptic earth stuff. The biggest hurdle I'm having with it is that the growth arc of the MC is apparently going to be her overcoming her deep xenophobia/racism. This is book 3 and there's only been hints of her overcoming it. It's distasteful, stupid, and makes it impossible for me to root for the MC. I don't like her because of it and it's coloring the entire series for me.

I didn't realize when I put this in my audible library that it's YA. In fact its everything I hate about YA. Adolescent angst, school, obsessive infatuation, school, mean girls, school. BLEK.

Not sure this one is going to make it to the end.

Third listen through (I thought it was second, but no). The last one in the series is out in audio now and I want a fresh run through before listening to it.

I try to stay away from stories about cops and PIs, so "CIA" kinda puts me off a bit here, but let's see if the "Librarian" part makes up for it.

OMG she's a stupid fucking bint. He's trying to kill you and you have the upper hand, so it makes PERFECT sense to let him go because you're afraid to kill.

TSTL. I hope she dies. I know she won't but I wish she would die and get put out of my misery.

I won't read anymore of these, I think. I'll finish this one but I don't understand all the squees about this series. It sucks.

No, really. She's too stupid to live. She doesn't deserve to live. Anyone who goes into fatally dangerous situations and allows their emotion of the moment to dictate freaking EVERYTHING truly deserves to be the victim of selective evolution.

Adults don't do this. Teenagers and their physically but not emotionally adult counterparts do this. So it's turning out to be YA with heat.

I'm hoping this will change, but if it doesn't I won't continue the series. I understand she's supposed to be a "Jewish Princess" but it's killin' me, heah!

I REALLY wanted to like this, but gf is hitting my radar as TSTL. I REALLY hate girly-girls that squee, squeal, and screech at everything and have such violent reactions that they ALWAYS fuck EVERYTHING up.

This trope doesn't make me want to read about the character. It makes me want to punch her to put her out of my misery. And I really can't bring myself to respect a guy who is attracted to a silly bint like this.

Seriously? Get her away from him? Just kill him.

Seems that we have a first time perspective change here, and after reading the first three back to back I keep forgetting who is narrating and it's a bit jarring when I remember.

Sick of the strongest person in the room needing to be rescued.

I'm so disgusted with this turn of events that I want to throw the book against the wall and abandon the series.

Seriously. W.T.F.? This is why I HATE young adult (this is new adult but this particular phenomenon is part and parcel of both). The characters are the biggest bad asses in the room and too insecure to own it. It's a shit trope.

I'm having trouble with suspension of disbelief. She could have called out that bitch right there in front of everyone and, given how revered she is, nobody would have questioned it.

I'm not buying the "run and build an army" bullshit. She's got an army right there, all she needs to do is command it. This feels like writer tricks for word count.

I love it when an author uses "I couldn't care less" instead of "I could care less." First, it just sounds better. Second, it makes sense. The latter makes no sense at all. If you COULD care less then why don't you? If you couldn't care less it's because you ALREADY care the least amount possible.

Oh please, not the "everything is my fault" self recrimination trope. Please can we grow through this quickly?

Not sure how many times I've read and listened to this series, but I have had Sweep of the Heart queued up for a week and don't have the time to sit down to read it. I've decided a fresh listen-through in audio may be just the ticket.
