Lots of characters to keep track of but I’m enjoying it and how the book is abt the whole neighborhood

“I was castigated for giving it too well…his team didn’t get it” re: when Harris gave a great speech 103 days out from the election and thus Biden’s public approval was suffering in the eyes of his team. I’d heard this book was scapegoat-y and think this is an apt example of such.

But enjoying this so far and getting the inside scoop on the VP process

I don’t think I can finish this. It’s so bad. The humming scene on the bench w the angry father on the phone? Please. So bad.

I really should stop reading this book bc the characters are the most 2D that I’ve read in a while. And yet I have 160 pages left and do want to see whatever ball the author is hiding abt the protagonist. Where are his flaws tho? All of these characters are soooo flat. Written by a 5th grader imo. These are the kind of choppy sentences I wrote in middle school and thought were good. Harsh critique but true!

Tempted to quit this book

I am so over the “my friends call me Theo” bit. Never once have I said “my friends call me Cameron” to introduce myself. And we made it to page 167 before Theo heard someone say “ain’t”? Don’t believe it

Confused why Mary is a character…doesn’t seem historically accurate to have a helper like her to manage the home front. Maybe that’s to help her adjust / know how to be a woman on the ranch? Idk
