Can't deny that I can almost taste the food being discussed in the book but otherwise - a very slow paced, badly written piece of fiction. Seems more of a rich-brat's self centered view from a window of pampered household. Nothing deep in there...

Been reading this for straight 5 hours and I cannot stop. Such a masterpiece.

The modern authors had almost made me forget how beautiful simple prose is. Such a flawlessly told tale with so much anticipation that not a single page seems stretched.

Didn't think any author could do justice to over 700 pages of storytelling except Sidney Sheldon, but here's Judith McNaught - a delightfully simple prose, characters jumping off the pages & a very subtly captivating plot.
Hate myself for not reading her earlier...

Picking up Judith McNaught after recommendations from several friends and to alternate with Salt & Saffron... I have previously liked the works of Nicholas Spark so I am assuming I will probably like Judith McNaught too but then that was over 10 years ago...

I don't know if I truly like the plot itself, but I love how beautifully Hanif has incorporated the problems with the society. From the perils of the choorha community to the adversities faced by women in this country, this book is quite a gruesomely real representation of Karachi...

An intellectually crass depiction of life in karachi. Beautifully capturing emotions. Just a bit uncertain about the plot itself.

This book is making me angry. I thought it would be more about the spiritual journey of finding religious harmony but it's quite the opposite. It has handled religious differences very insensitively & has been at a standstill for the last 100 pages or more. Also, I don't understand why people fell in love with the character of Salar. It is such a cliché character.
Disappointed already!

A very slow pace, the plot has however turned quite gripping to where I am right now. But it is very frustrating to see that all the characters in the book are very ordinary and predictable, borderline stereotyped. Not sure how long it will take until i finish this book, but I don't think I will love it as much as the people around me do!

Started reading this a few weeks ago, didn't get a chance to pace up or read more thanks to a shitty work from home schedule, but so far this seems like an interesting read.

Loving umera ahmad's prose!

This one will take some time for me to grasp. 25% into the book and I still can't make sense of the plot, not implying its not interesting but it's not too captivating either.

So someone woke up in the mid of the night from a commotion on street and started assuming what would be going on in another house.

There's a taxi driver ranting about his sister in law, his wife and mother in law.

Then this woman who sweats a lot is traveling in a bus, irritated of God knows what ... Can't figure out what's going on here!

Starting the 6th Elif Shafak novel, with super high expectations.

The plot has become so gripping that the otherwise bothersome jumps between timelines doesn't matter to me anymore! Can't put this book down!

Was on a travel break but for some reason I can't bring myself to finish this book. I hate the timeline jumps as of now!

Interesting plot. Finally liking the characters and their backstories. It's a gripping tale but I just don't like the way the timelines have jumped so frequently. All in all, good book so far!

Painfully slow & I hate the jump between timelines and new characters and so many similar names of characters. Barely keeping track of who's who and where!

Plot seems interesting though

Reading this one again. Down to 163 pages in one sitting. This time around it seems interesting. Only if the prolonged chapters about Ella and aziz's growing closeless were chopped!

Starting to read this at work while I read honor at home.

Looking forward to the plot and particularly the character of Alice Bhatti not just because the reviews talk much about the character, but because I have been inclined towards hanifs characters. I might not be overly excited with the plots of his other books, but his characters are always interesting!

Slow progress not because the book is boring, but because work has kept me occupied lately. The book is quite a good read undoubtedly.

So far so good. haven't been able to read much though, but it's been an interesting read. The characters are so aptly described that I can literally picture them in certain situations.

Let's see what all the hype is about...

Phew that's literally a tiring read. Don't want to go any further for now. Going to jump off to another book for a while.
