I guess the book moves along quickly once getting started. Right now, Susan (the author) is sailing the ship. She has learned how to drive a boat. I am especially drawn to the parts where she talks about the unique marine life she encounters--like the snapping shrimp.

I think it's pretty cool how she is using this experience on the sea away from her husband as a way to reflect and draw closer to him.

Interesting so far, it's not really the type of book I usually read, but since I do read the "Ocean Watch" newspaper columns that the author writes in the local paper, I thought I'd try.

There are a few things that I can't relate to (yet)--menopause symptoms, for one.

Is it wrong that I don't want Becca to end up with Jeff?

Not really my usual type of book, but I'm sticking with it.

The characters are all very "real" to me. I can hear what their voices sound like, and I can imagine what they might look like.

Almost halfway through the review copy, and the term hari kari has been used more than once. As a Japanese-American, this irritates me as the correct term is "hara kiri" which basically means "stomach cutting", in reference to suicide. I really hope it's been corrected in the final copy.

My general impression is that it's like Watership Down, only with birds instead of rabbits.

Just started. I picked it up because of the strange cat-doll on the book jacket.

So far, it's interesting. I can relate a little to the consumer lifestyle. I'm trying to change that.

I just started. I should be reading but I'm torn between reading and playing Animal Crossing New Leaf on my 3DS.

I'm constantly comparing the movie to the book. Normally I like to read the book BEFORE watching the movie.
