I got nearly all the way through the audio book of this, and there is a whole lot about it I really loved. But as it concluded I found the disintegration of one particular friendship too disheartening for me to stand, for some reason, and I couldn't get myself back in to it, at least for the time being.

Library e-book got automatically returned :P I will finish the book, which has a lot of real interesting info and explanations of processes. Unfortunately, the narrator comes across as a bit of an asshole in his jokes and anecdotes, which by all accounts he is not in real life: For some reason, the 'pretentious ivy league kid who thinks everyone else is too sensitive' energy got turned up to 11 in this.

oh and I forgot to mention an intro to our main (?) character that really demonstrates ethical ambiguity in action and leaves me wondering about her motivations

This has got one of the most compelling first 2 chapters I've ever encountered--a great intro to vibrant imagined technologies, an at first amusing and then concerning critique of capitalist work culture, the concept of patent terrorism, thinking about how pain might seem to a robot: I've heard great reviews of Autonomous from friends and it's living up to the hype right off the bat

My wife looked at my computer screen over my shoulder, saw Blue capitalized as a proper noun, and asked if I was reading Jurassic Park fanfiction, lol.
