Weird

Hardly “witty” (quote- telegraph) or “funny” (quote The Times) but a harrowing story of a man’s struggle against ‘the big terrible thing(s). Heartbreaking to know that in the end he lost the war, not just the battles on the way.

It is meant to give pleasure, to entertain and enliven!!

A real feel good family story.

Storyline - good. Male narrator- horrible. Would have enjoyed it more if it hadn’t been full of tedious, drawn-out-intimate drooling!

A very powerful story of forgotten women. Loved it.

Phew! What an insight into the terrible human cost of war and starting again. Well written and at times painfully harrowing.

It’s been on the shelf so long - it’s about time to dust it off!! Let’s see.
