These books just get weirder but I don't mind it.

This was a random Audible recommendation so I thought why not. But the friend is meant to be British and she sounds half British half Australian. Bit weird. But I'll give it a chance!

The story was just starting to get good and now I've slogged my way through 5 pages of references that I didn't understand, and spent more time in the footnotes than I did the actual pages. Note to self: probably should have read a bit more about French history before starting. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Why am I finding this book soooo hard to get through?! I feel like this is such an important story, but I can't keep track of who is who and the writing is so dry and detached. I will persevere, but it's difficult.
