I have concluded I don't really want to read a book. I want to review a book. But to review a book I first have to read a book and that just seems excessive.

Going on vacation and only bringing my Kindle so I decided to prepare by picking a few books to download.
64 books later and I just want moreeeeeeeeeee.

I am not going to read them all. It is purely about acquisition at this point.

Me: This book is absolutely brilliant and I am going to buy it for all my female friends.

Also me: I am done. I am not engaged. I do not want to read more. That was nice.

And back to the library it goes. Eventually I will finish. Probably.

Back to toiling away at this one. The content isn’t that bad, it is how *repetitive* the content is.

Spring/summer cleaning and I keep stumbling on little stacks of books I've piled up around the house like a squirrel hoarding treats for the coming winter.

I'd get a lot farther in this book if I kept forgetting about it, re-reading the introduction to orient myself, then returning it to the library.

I know I don't read these books for their well-founded accuracy. But a Louisiana Supreme Court Justice deciding she can't support a man's parole before the case even happens because "she'd helped put him away" sounds like a MASSIVE conflict of interest. I'm not saying I'm on the side of the guy sending death threats, but I am questioning her objectivity here.

But hear me out: what if we didn’t make sweeping generalizations about women based on fringe psychotic cases.

I feel like this book is doing a great job making the case for why we shouldn't entrust 17 year olds to save the world.

It occurs to me in the amount of time it has taken me to read this book I could have birthed a child and sent them to Hogwarts.

I have apathetically tried to read this book numerous times over the last decade and never got past the 50% mark. Maybe if I mark it currently reading I'll actually be motivated to finish.

Am I enjoying this book? Eh.
Do I thoroughly appreciate a good G.K. Chesterton nod? Heck yeah.

You might be thinking, "Amy, wasn't your goal this year to read 25 books over 700 pages? Aren't you falling behind?" And the answer is yes but there is a reason I have not read these long books before. They are boring and I have the attention span of a squirrel.

I can safely say that I have never thought about pee as much as Beauvoir has.

This book is basically the first book except the main couple has only known each other a month instead of a decade and THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT BETTER.

Rants from a lawyer: you don’t call the school’s general counsel to represent a student of the school on a criminal matter. First, that’s almost definitely not his area of practice. Second, that’s a massive conflict of interest.

Finally broke down and got Kindle Unlimited. This is the best idea and the worst idea I've ever had.

Any flicker of interest I had in "being the unicorn" disappeared the minute he mentioned the importance of prompt responses to texts at 10:30 pm. Y'all, I am in BED and hopefully ASLEEP by 10:30.

Swapping to the edition I am listening to on YouTube which is SO much easier than the miniscule print and challenging translation of the Penguin Edition.

Not going to lie, I did not expect chapter 1 to be a biology lesson but I guess it is a good enough reason as any to get this song stuck in my head.
