I started this but didn't finish. Don't know how it appeared on my reading list. It might be genius! Read it and let me know.

I've memorized "Lucky's Speech" ( pity my husband!), which is exhilarating in its nonsense, true to life, provides no punctuation, and more or less, sums up how many of us still live and possibly what life means.

I have a new Kindle. and just started this.

half way finished; I seem to be reading a lot of poetry, which might have been faster for Marilyn Monroe, but isn't for me.

I never read poetry cover to cover. One poem or two a week or they don't sink in. I can't say what page I'm on. This week and last week, I read "Wild Geese," "Rage," and "Happiness," but not all at once. I always read poetry out loud and almost always read it out loud twice.

I'm putting this aside for now; certain I'll return.

DFW demands a lot from the reader and for me his writing was always worth it. As most know, it's made up of various drafts to which his editor applied great care. I've read reviews mapping peaks and valleys but need to decide for myself. Every great writer falls short of the intended goal. So I'm taking my time and can only hope this doesn't land beside Proust on my "shelves."

I'm dippng into chapters of a stack of classics. And
reading short stories wherever I find them: Checkov, Mann, Highsmith, etc.
