Putting this on hiatus for a bit because, while I'm enjoying it, I keep feeling like I'm missing something--like I need to know more before I can really follow the story. I could be wrong about that--but I now own An Affinity for Steel, and I'm reading that before I plunge back into this second trilogy.

Gave up on this one after reading spoilers for both The Twelve and City of Mirrors and deciding there was no point reading a jillion more words just to be super irritated. Very disappointed since I enjoyed the first book.

I so far have no clear idea of the purpose of this book.

Might not finish this one. Putting it on hiatus. IMO it's really gone into overkill with this poor woman's trials. She's like Job on steroids, but maybe that's the point?

Some interesting cultural stuff, but just can't connect with the main character. The "voice" of the first-person present tense narrative reads like the author's voice, not the main character's.

Really enjoying the stories set at the U of I and Stagedoor Theater. Had no idea he was from my stomping grounds.

Listening to this on audiobook and now all my internal monologues sound like Amy Poehler.

This book consistently uses "reigns" when it means "reins" and it is Driving. Me. CRAZY.
