TIL that "Eorlingas" was actually an Anglo-Saxon placename! The modern place is called Arlingham. Take off the -ham suffix, meaning village, and you can totally still see it.

This book defeated me in 2014, but I'm coming to our rematch more prepared.

This final stretch is kinda breaking me...

Through Book 3, which incidentally is where 'The Faerie Queene' **takes off.** I'm obsessed!

End of Part One!

The fact that the most frequently referenced scene in this book, tilting at windmills, comes only 5% of the way through the novel makes me suspicious that lots of people just never got very far into it.

The most egregious gap in my canon.... time to fill it in!

Harry claims William physically assaulted him during an anti-Meghan tirade. This book is anti-Wills, anti-Kate, anti-Charles, and veryyy anti-Camilla, and I just love it.

Harry reveals he killed 25 people in Afghanistan and also got frostbite on his nether regions on a trek to the North Pole. This really is the most buckwild memoir ever- and I usually hate memoirs!

DAMN! Harry claims that the stories about him being a teenage drug addict, the whole "Harry the Hooligan" plotline, were approved and even organized by Charles and Camilla, in order to get the press of their own backs, because they were still getting crucified over the Diana infidelity.

I'm so disappointed that everyone just rolled over and welcomed Charles as King, when he seems the most loathsome human being.

Tea: Harry says Charles hadn't been prepared to have kids and was an inadequate parent, unable to show affection, and always seeming detached and confused!

Yes I pre-ordered this and started it the day it came out, because I'm such a slut for Royals gossip...

Last month, when I finished "Demons," I wrote here that I was afraid all my best Dostoevksy experiences were behind me, now that I had read all his great works. I hadn't reread a Dostoevsky yet, so I couldn't say if they'd produce equally moved reactions in me the second time 'round. Well, here we go! Seeing as Tolkien works produce a *stronger emotional reaction* in me with every subsequent reread, I'm optimistic.

OMG, so good. The fête in "Demons" is as gripping and climactic as the trial in "Brothers Karamazov."
