It’s like reading Amos Tutuola, but as an account of a real life, mixed with a textbook on how colonialism is awful. A fascinating narrator.

OMG. What am I reading. This. Is. Genius.

Almost like watching a tv series with a very large cast of characters. Surprisingly captivating.

Quite a ride, these books. You go from excitement to anger to grief to giddiness in a matter of pages.

Loving it so much! I found Winter somewhat lacking in poetry (that is, for Ali Smith!) So it’s good to see here more of that quality her prose usually has

1) This is a really well-done audiobook. 2) As all other Malcolm Gladwell’s books for me, this one seems to contain lots and lots of interesting stories but is hard to sum up.

Reads like a very long poem that pretends to be a novel.

Loving the book so far (although a lot of it is quite horrible thematically speaking). Also, the audiobook as read by Julia Whelan is really good.

Unputdownable, at least for a language nerd (who doesn’t even necessarily aims to create her own language).

Fairly perplexed as to why this is nominated for Booker Prize, other than international representation. I mean, this is a rather amusing story but.

At 10%, I still had no idea what the book was about.

At 40%, I do but it’s so charming that I would be fine with not knowing.

I can’t read more than one tiny, bite-sized story a day - they are *that* powerful.

Everything is fucked even more than in the beginning. But - Immanuel Kant!

Wow, for the first half of the book the heroine has pretty much been swallowing pills and sleeping - and it’s still fun to read!
