It's usually so hard for me to savour books because I read so fast, but I've been rationing myself because I don't want this to end.

A steampunk retelling of Sherlock Holmes with angels and demons, set during the Whitechapel murders? Hell yeah. I'm sold.

Can't believe I'm reading this for the first time – it's already so much more gripping than the film (and that's saying a lot – it's one of my favourites).

This novel is painfully dull and just drags on. Vera is an infuriating pushover – god, if I had to deal with a dying mother like Daphne, I'd have killed her myself.

This book is intriguing this far, but the narration is all over the place and it's annoying to read. Let's see if I make it past this.

This novel is...infuriating, to say the least. It's one of those books about the immigrant experience that feels like it's written for white people, and white people are going to read this and feel like they suddenly "get it". It's a hot mess of caricatures told in a complete word salad. We'll see if I get through it.

I'm only a chapter in, and this book already feels like a warm hug. I've never read a book featuring the cadence and syntax of how Malaysians speak in English, and I can hear my dad in Every. Single. Sentence.

A book about the pandemic has no business being this funny, and thank goodness for it. I'm loving this wry travelogue, a comedy of errors, thus far.

TW: Rape

Oof, this is a tough read so far. A memoir that explores the author's challenging and conflicting thoughts about her rape at the hands of one of her best friends. A honest, nuanced and important conversation about how the way survivors feel about their sexual assault is not always clear-cut.
