2nd read. Enjoyed thoroughly.

IN this second read I took a much longer time and enjoyed the book. This book needs a concentrated thorough reading to take most out of the book.

Unparalleled to any read I have read in recent times. A chronicle of history of India in East India Company regime.

Good book on crime thriller

Altogether a nice read of crime thriller and detection.

A smooth reading of the King of the animal Kingdom. Tiger, the large hearted gentleman. Like vanishing large hearted gentleman, they are also at the brink of extinction.

Feeling filled। A nice life story of one of the grand figures who changed history and then failed।

A supreme narration of the failed first Revolution of Russia, written by one of the leaders of the revolution.

Brahmaputra, the most gifted river, one of the largest and greatest in the world, following from time immemorial, but not worshipped in the Vedas or by Aryans, not counted in Seven Sacred Rivers. But this is the main of all the sacred rivers of the would.

This is a marvelously plotted thesis article based on 1876 Bengal Cyclone following cholera epidemic and famine. The colonial govt could have mitigated the death toll in epidemic and famine. But the colonial govt and the Zamindar class or upper class people did not do anything to save the oppressed. Thorough socioeconomic analysis reported in a subtle way. Takes the reader to see things and fell things.

Read second time. Couple of storeys have read countless times. The author happens to be one top author of people of my generation and earlier.

All along a nice read. A shepherd boy have a dream. He runs after the dream. Listens to the nature, listens to the heart. It's some sort of understanding the inner secrets of mind, life, nature. What they call in philosophy and anything above philosophy. Thoroughlly a nice journey of mind and inner spirit.

Now shall come the turn of Mallory and Irvine that created the Epic and myth. One eternal legend of Everest expeditions.

The third expedition is in progress. After initial retreats under pressure of blizzards and snow drifts the climbers are determined to scale the summit. Even here the first attempt fails. Norton and Somerville climbed up to 28100 ft, but the extreme fatigue that resulted from initial hazards had taken the toll. They had to turn back.

Feeling sad. Every good thing has an end. Coming to the end of this book. Explorations are over. Past the Tibetan Platue, Riddle of the Tsangpo. Gorges over.

The second effort ended. This ended in a disaster. Seven people perish under an avalanche, in spite of every effort, every precaution extended by the team. The team however establishes a record. Climbing as high as 27000 ft, where no person ever, not even a living thing has reached. Taking lessons from this and earlier failure, preparations are to start for another attempt.

Reading the chapter "The Falls of Brahmaputra."
Past the rainbow falls the authors lost the sight of the river. When it reappears some 20 miles down, they got amazed to see the river dropped more than 2241 ft in altitude. Is there a falls hidden in the remote unseen 20 miles, or the story of "The Brahmaputra Falls" is a legend, a myth of Tibetan Buddhist Texts.

Reading the Chapter "The Gorge of Tsangpo"
Past Pemako, covering the vivid beautiful colors of autumn, the authors' are back in the track again. The river enters the gorge between the sentinel peaks of Namcha Barwa and the Sacred Mountain Gyala Peri.

"....Pemako is the Promised Land of the Tibetan prophecy. This prophecy was to the effect that, when their religion was persecuted in Tibet, the people should go to Pemako, a land flowing with milk and honey, where the crops grew of their own accord. Most races have their promised land, and such legendary places must necessarily be somewhat inaccessible, hidden -
behind misty barriers where ordinary men do not go."

Author's introduction of Pemako is really marvelous. Here he writes, "Pemako is one of the Tibetan provinces whichPemako is an unknown and remote region. Not only is it extraordinarily difficult to reach from any direction ; it is still more difficult to penetrate and explore when reached...."

It is the second Everest expedition. The climbers in high spirit applying all they can, they have to go through the North Col. Weather uncertain...disaster to strike.
