I am hating this book. It was recommended to me by my oldest friend who also insisted I read Cryptonomicon by Neil Stevenson which sucked in exactly the same way - obsessive, overindulgent, needlessly long winded passages that the author apparently thinks are really clever. Imagine being cornered by one of these d00ds at a public function. Uhk. Please let this get better.

Yep. This is a bit of a slog.

This book is great! The SyFy channel show seemed a bit blurry so I'm glad to see the pacing of the book is so much more effective. Loving it!

I just finished The Martian: A Novel and gave it 4 stars.
