Why doesn't this cover match the previous three? WHY? 🙄

This book is worth every hour it has taken me to read and absorb it.

I’m reading some of this, listening to some too. It is… terrifying how ordinary most of these people were. Great writing, cutting insights.

I’m taking my time with this, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a brilliantly written book, just that I can only take the intensity in small doses!

It has been awhile since I read something as fantastical and as delightful as this, I am a quarter of the way through and I’m really enjoying myself.

This is amazing… but will be something I read slowly - it is very dense!

OMG this is hilarious - and terrifying. Satire at its finest. Let's see if it keeps up for the length of the novel...

Why am I still reading? I love the undermarket, but I seriously need some more character depth and definition…

Rees clearly read a lot of books and he quotes from most of them. My main irritation so far is the constant use of charisma/charismatic - yes, I know it's in the title, but need it be used 5 times a page?

DNF at the point where the MMC looks at the mutilated body of a woman and imagines what she would have looked like in his bed if they’d slept together.

How is this not better known? It’s a tiny gem… I’m reading it slowly, waiting for heartbreak.

A good story - but the anachronisms are driving me crazy!

1. I really don’t like the UK cover…
2. Why have it be about Irish/British politics but set it in a fantasy world?
3. Why have it be about a magical dressmaker and then give so little detail about the clothes that it is impossible to picture them?

Other than that, it is OK so far :)

Paused - as I have a cold and the angelic magic system is befuddling me.

I wasn’t into the first section, then was mildly bored waiting for the other shoe to drop… now we’ll see.

Versailles? Really? Court dress with BOOTS?

I’m going to finish this, but woah it is tough going. I like Paris… but this is not sweet or cute it is the agonising misery of someone with acute anxiety. It seems to be the whole book, and yes there is a romance, but it isn’t about that, not really, and - quite frankly - I’m with Tariq’s sister.

Is this Merlin fanfic?

Sooo many coincidences and stupidities… I love the tea and the HK movies/C-drama vibe, but I’m not immersed.

Sweet, dated, delightful Regency.

Enjoying so far, though the central character is ridiculously self-centred, arrogant and plain annoying - hopefully she’ll grow up!

This is a quite unpleasant story...

Why am I going over the same ground as the previous book? Maybe if I’d read that a few months ago I’d feel less cheated. Grump.

Though mine is called You and Me on Vacation. Guess one is UK one US.

So far so good. This is a chatty, easy look at Ms Young’s life - perhaps a little too much about her early years, though it does show well the complex relationships of family, and her love for them all.

Really enjoying this apart from this - all the place names are NOT likely ones for Sussex. They are all a bit Dorset. Guess The Siren of Dorset didn’t scan. Sigh. And yes, I live in Sussex.

Brilliant closed-circle mystery set in 1917 with added ghosts. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. 4.5 stars - half a star deducted as I really didn’t like the opening - but luckily kept reading.

I am half way through, and as far as I can see this book was entirely mis-pitched.

Just read the bit with the owls… not sure I want to read on!
