I just read a review that said "The only way out is through." Completely nailed the vibe of this book. It's unsettling, it's horrifying, it's perfect for spooky season but it's not for people that can't handle hardcore horror stuff. It's grisly and sexy at the same time, and how the fuck is that possible?

Anne Frasier is one of my favorite authors, and initially I was a bit annoyed that her next book was a standalone/new series starter? instead of another book in the Inland Empire series. But honestly? I think this is the best Anne Frasier book I've read yet. Absolutely BRILLIANT storytelling.

One of the weirdest, most unsettling things I've ever read in my life. As long as it ends well, this will easily be my first 5 star read of the year. I don't understand the low ratings AT ALL. For a debut it's incredibly well-written and the voice is out of this world. I had to put it down to go to sleep but I didn't want to.

I have no idea where I'm going on this ride but I love it so far! This is my 4th Stephen King book.

The different short stories (vignettes) are vaguely connected to the crime of the two girls being kidnapped, some as vague as the girls just being mentioned in passing, so as a reader I'm just wondering how all these short stories are going to connect to the crime in the end. I am definitely going to finish it, because I don't hate it, but at this point I am just confused.

Absolutely stunning writing, and I love reading about a different culture and how very different it is from my own, but. Whenever I put this down I'm not in a hurry to get back to it because there just isn't a whole lot happening. I think the problem is because of the blurb. We expect it to be a thriller--at least a mystery--but instead we are given short stories about different people in the Kamchatka peninsula.

This is my second Kate White book. I don't hate it but her writing is some of the flattest writing I have ever read.

I love this series with all my heart, but OMG if she ends up with Isaac when all this is said and done, I'm going to fucking LOSE it.

Honestly, I love this book so much. This is the first book I've read by a male author in a really long time because I don't like the way men write women. But except for one line at the beginning, I actually believe the protagonist is a woman. But mostly I just love the story and the setting and the characters.
