A lot of Maas's stuff reads like fan fiction to me. Even though I like ACOMF it really did come off like a HP bashing fic in a lot of ways.
It's just gotten worse. The last book of hers I read was ACOWAR and I noticed it then, but your writing is supposed to improve, not get worse. I am wondering if she's refusing content editing now.
It gets so, so, so much worse as you read on.
Also, yes, she blanket-rejects editorial notes on the whole.
I feel the same way. It's like self-insertion fic.
I'm more into the plot than I was before, but I'm not looking forward to the sex scenes. I know she writes them terribly.
