No sense DNF’ing since it really is going nowhere quickly enough. Feels like a gifted, perverted high schoolers journalings.

The difference between a Soule story and the previous tales in this collection is telling…

Man oh man, could they jam any more pretentious slop into this story?

Maybe, just maybe, the story is starting to go somewhere…

Spinning wheels - just can’t get any reading momentum with this book. Loved his last one.

After a lifetime of constructing beautiful prose, he gave into the Covidian nonsense. Sullies all he’s written.

So far, filled with noxious grievance mentality and propaganda. Heavy handed divergence from previous works I’ve read.

Insufferable client. Unlikeable attorney. Not a great start. Hoping it picks up.

Slogging thru a beginning that feels like it’s trying a little too hard to be John Irving. Listening on Audible so it’s a tad easier to stomach, but the reader isn’t doing the story much justice. Hoping to gut it out as a fellow Buckeye. But there needs to be more than that.

Agenda-driven propaganda (programming) is ramping up.

Decent principles to follow. Not convinced about the purely plant based approach and some philosophies feel a bit new agey, clearly aren’t Christian-based. So dug into the author’s background a little…possible agenda coated w platitudes.

Heavy-handed boomer era propaganda in this one so far. Won’t touch the other rail I’ve noticed quite yet. But the nostalgia factor is fine and got me turning the page a little quicker one we hit 75 or so.

The smugness of the Russo chapters is off putting. Throws the narrative off-kilter.

Makes sense that it’s read by Wheaton. Emanates a lot of beta energy. I don’t remember this from earlier Scalzi I’ve read. Past couple definitely feel a little nasally.
