Covers just about everything. You interact with the narration almost as much as you interact with any particular character. Humanity surfing the wave of the singularity. Horizons officially broadened.

I already know that this is going to get a 5 star rating, something I reserve for some of the most useful and innovative books I read. A core theme of the book I'm currently writing is that tracing the roots of science and religion and of many contemporary crises, back to our origins allows us to connect science, religion and the arts and see a way forward. This book arrives at the idea of that connectivity as well.

I knew I'd love this book and I do. I'm not hurrying to get through it, but already I'm almost half-way done. Like the first book this one has wonderful characterization and artful story-telling. Delicious.

This book is well worth the time. You naturally start it with the question of who are these 'unpersuadables', and (not too much of a spoiler) before you're done, the author is going to expand the list to include, well, everyone. If you're reading this, you probably love books. Probably, you love stories. Read this. It tells story that man is the storytelling animal, but, unlike others, does so on a visceral level.

I wasn't prepared to be convinced by the central argument of this book - that Christianity, as formed by the Roman state, was anti-rational discourse. I have, however been persuaded, and consider this an important book.

I love a book that is written well enough that its flaws are plainly visible. In Morris Berman's case his materialism makes him a poor critic of spiritual philosophy and of the Church. He also is not well enough grounded in science. I still have to love the scope and vision of this work, and it holds up as a good read after more than thirty years.
