"Thus Kylie had been both victim and abuser. Like all of them. Victims and accomplices. That's what The Chain does to you. It tortures you and then makes you complicit in the torture of others."

So good!
"Another morning. That feeling in her stomach, those butterflies of terror, of gut churning horror. You've never experienced fear until something or someone puts your child in danger. Dying is not the worst thing that can happen to you. The worst thing that can happen to you is for something to happen to your kid."

Hmm, a bit slower going, especially in the beginning, than I'd anticipated, not to say it isn't good though. I have found myself jumping over to another book when I feel my attention not being as devoted to the book as I'd like it to be.

A secret is only safe if one person holds it, I think. But when two share a confidence, and both have self-preservation as their main motive, one of them is going to give.

I was thrilled to receive this unexpectedly right from Harper Collins. Totally guilty of being in the middle of another book at the time when I decided to flip just a few pages to scan & was unable to put it down.
Completely engrossing, Sarah Pinborough has upped her game since Behind Her Eyes!

Slower beginning than expected, however I think it was more due to me and not a fault of the book. Has definitely picked up, enjoying where the characters are going.

"Accounts had to be settled, equations balanced. He had to unwind the secrets of the Lake once and for all. Like a visit to hell itself, the way out was the way through." - Nate

Rhonda Stefani is finished with Bone Box (Peter Decker/Rina Lazaru, #24)
Oh my, I'm trying so hard not to just give up on this one, but it is a definite struggle! There is certainly something to be said for just too descriptive- every single detail about every single thing is just too much. Only halfway through, while reading two other books because I really needed a break, and I still feel like I'm nowhere and have been reading this one for an eternity...

Absolutely captivating novel invoking many feelings for so many of the characters in the story. Very easy to follow, even being an American, not finding myself lost or confused following the government speak at all. I'm so caught up in the tale, loving each moment that I find myself trying to read slower and slower to avoid reaching the end! I believe Victoria will be in my thoughts long after the last page is turned

The book started off very quickly and with several surprising twists & turns. Taking a short break as it has really slowed for me for some reason about 1/3rd in. Just not much happening so a small break.

Rhonda Stefani is 76% done with Finders Keepers (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #2)
The middle, just past middle of the book seemed to slow down to me. It certainly hasn't helped that my local library Still has this on a 14 day loan with waiting lists! I'll be finished by the next time I can grab it!

Since I've read quite a few Alex Delaware novels, Jonathan Keller man's name caught my eye as did the title. Sounded like a mix of my two favorite genres! However I find myself extremely frustrated with this book! I'm about 1/3rd of the thru which in itself is crazy for how long I've been trying to get into this book. I read fast I should be almost done, instead I'm taking a break!Done for now with this plodding alon

Fascinating read, learning things long unanswered if you were a reader of all of the Vampire Chronicle's. Currently at the most intense part of the book, many shocks & surprises being delivered. Quite happy to have seen the long awaited newest Anne Rice Vampire novel, definitely haven't read anything of this nature in many years!

Figured I'd buzz thru this book since it's due back to the library soon, but put it down in frustration. This Stone Barrington book is starting EXACTLY like almost every other one! So sick of authors of a series seeming to put no effort into the book except to change a few names, locations & other really pointless details!! I've got a few other books I've been eagerly waiting for so for now I'm moving on!
