So there's some pro-Israel stuff in here which makes me super uncomfortable given the current genocide. The Ashkars are based on Jewish people, and they have no home to call their own, which is mentioned over and over.

I'm really not enjoying it, there's so much drag car racing and I don't know the terms for cars, and there's no build up to anything scary.

I'm having the same problem with this as I had with The Name of the Wind: hero is recounting his life story to some writer, and I just don't give a damn. Give me a story, not a biography. Nothing interesting has happened yet. Why is this book so popular?

This is probably my 4th reread of the book and I'm paying attention to Nesta in anticipation for the 5th book. She's a bitch. I don't see how anyone can like her. She never once redeems herself in book 3.

I can't believe how much I'm loving this. It's so lush and evocative and the ideas feel so fresh and new. The first chapter might be the best first chapter I've ever read.

This is... awful. Jane literally cries every few pages, and she has absolutely no backbone. The writing is also so bad. I can't believe that THE Tanith Lee wrote this.

This book is so trashy. It has none of the pretentious beautiful lines that Maas usually put in her YA/NA work. This is just a trashy and fun Adult paranormal romance and I am LIVING for it. Not to say it's good... but it's not bad either. It's like watching reality tv.

The story is fun and I'm enjoying the book itself, but dear god, the narrator is awful. She keeps making such bad and stereotypical racial voices, and for some reason the Love Interest sounds like a cockney villain.

I've gotten into audiobooks lately, and I'm looking for good books to listen to. Preferably fantasy, the longer the better.

This is really good, but it does a lot of telling and speeds through some scenes which dampen the impact of some of the characters and their relationships with others. People who seem important come and go in a matter of pages.

I've only just realised that Gideon is wearing aviator sunglasses on the cover. I thought it was just the black eyes of a skull. This is an awesome revelation.
