I read 'A Man called Ove' 3 times and loved every single page of it. I am somewhat surprised that 'Anxious People' was written by the same person. I like none of the characters, most of them I downright hate by now, the writing is repetitive and feels emotionally disconnected and it seems like this book is trying so hard to be... something. I'm not exactly sure what. Someone please tell me that it gets better...

So... we are licking things... that's new. Still don't like the characters. Any of them. I really want Sophie to ask questions. ANY question and insist on an answer. Just once.

I have questions, so many questions. Starting with: does Sophie develop a personality at some point in this book or is she just going to "go with the flow" for the rest of it without ever asking any questions or demanding to be answered? I mean... personally I would draw the line when someone is just putting a tight collar looking thing around my neck without giving me an explanation first but that might just be me…

According to my notes, I loved this book back in 2016, when I first read it. Maybe I should have left it at that. But I didn't and here we are. Now I'm scared to reread other books I liked from that time...

By now I should be able to
- make nitroglycerin and blow up a lake
- build a telegraph & windmill
- train a monkey to become a loyal servant
- grow ANY vegetable & domesticate EVERY animal
- kill a leopard with nothing more than a little knife
but unfortunately the book is so boring that I can't remember any of these things. I really hope I'm not going to strand on a uninhabited island anytime soon...

Unfortunately, the second book isn’t nearly as good as the first one... I loved Kings of the Wyld and I miss the deep connection between the boys and the funny situations and dialogs that came with it. Maybe it is because Rose and Fable are a lot younger or maybe it's because I'm not experiencing the story through the eyes of an old warrior but a young, naive child... Anyway. Something is missing.

I don't understand the logic behind goodreads "More like your 2019 books"-recommendations. I mostly read thriller, crime, fantasy and occasionally some manga/comics.
Goodreads doesn't recommend ANY thriller, crime, manga or fantasy books, BUT it does recommend self-help (I read 2), love (I read 2), a book written in 1898 (?!?) and a book on web design (??????).
I'm very confused…

At the moment I'm reading a book whose characters I all hate (with few exceptions) and one where I find it hard to find a character I don't love. I mean… Moog is precious beyound believe and I love his friendship with Matrick. And Clay. And Ganelon the poor bastard. And I don't even hate Gabe, altough he can be an ass. <3

I've never hated anyone as much as Gar, that spineless coward. >.<

I'm never going to understand why they change character names when they translate a book...

I barely can remember anything from back when I read this. Well… it has been over 10 years.
In my fading memory, the book is faster paced and I remember liking some of the characters a lot more. It’s still a good series, but when I look back not much has happened in the last 1400 pages I read…

Dear Jonathan Stroud,
This is my third and last try with one of your books.
If I don't like this one, I will accept my defeat and leave you alone.

Love story, very excessive descriptions, magic with very little explanations and timehopping… not the kind of things I like to read about. I don't think this book is for me...

I want this to be as good as "Teeth" >.<
I will be so sad if it doesn't turn out that way ._.

This is the last book in the Summoner series I have left :-(
What will I do when I'm finished? O_O
Today will be a sad day... ;_;

I love this series with all my heart, but the portrait of the nobles is REALLY black and white. There sadly isn't much in between, which is unfortunate since I'm normally drawn to villains with a good backstory.
Maybe next time, Taran Matharu. I'm counting on you! =)

I would like this book a whole lot more, if it wouldn't jump from perspective to perspective, because I always the current narrator and disliking every other character and it’s really confusing…
