“What does nostalgia mean to a child? An abstraction. A standing stone waiting for them in the mist. Walk a path across some decades, any path you like, and the word will gather weight. It will come to you trailing maybes and might-have-beens. Nostalgia is a drug, a knife. Against young skin it carries a dull edge, but time will teach you that nostalgia cuts—and that it’s a blade we cannot keep from applying to our o

“I need new streets to be old on. Walking the same places I walked when things were so different—it makes me forget who I am, when I am.”“Careful there, Master Yute.” Malar spoke up unexpectedly. “Nostalgia’s a dangerous thing. Especially on steps like these.”

All of us in our secret hearts, in our empty moments of contemplation, stumble into the understanding that nothing matters. There’s a cold shock of realisation and, in that moment, we know that nothing at all is of the least consequence. Ultimately, we’re all just spinning our wheels, seeking to avoid pain until the clock winds down and our time is spent. To give someone purpose is to free them, however briefly.

Trying not to devour this too quickly. More than halfway through and several line of text stands out. I've read that this book is supposed to be separate from any of the others but some little things I've noticed and this one particular line make me think somehow they may be connected....🤔 Moreover, Mark- this is such a well written novel I'm damn near stupefied with it's perfection!

Only a few pages in and already have notated several sentences and paragraphs starting with And. While this doesn't generally bother me, to see so many at the start of a book is off-putting, as surely a storyteller should be adept at conjuring any handful of more suitable descriptors or sentence starters. However, so far the story has entranced me. This is just my own opinion.

I want to finish this so badky, but I have to go to that wicked place called work. Lawrence has such an instigating quality to his writing that is hard to explain, but keeps driving me deeper into chapters. As always, his use of language is smart, precise, and altogether unparalleled. My heart is already sad for this to be over. This is really a pull you in and don't let go kind of read right from the start.

'How easily the young sacrifice the old. When you get to 40 it won't seem so clear cut.'
This resonates so damn deep right now. On the cusp of my 37th birthday, I was just thinking of how when I was a angst riddled teen I thought people my current age were old. How wrong I was. This is my prime I'd say now. Also with this wretched virus infecting our world seemingly more aggressive towards the older population.

I've been sitting on this for a while and now that I'm in it, I'm committed!SO GOOD SO FAR! The pace just starts off trucking and just keeps moving! Kinda mad and also kinda glad I didn't read it right away. Really love the diverse and eclectic cast and unique sci fi magic combo!

Reykin Is my bae and anyone who doesn't ship Roselle and Reykin can fight me. This book is filling a hole I needed to fill with a little of the fluff and a lot of the sci fi cyborg warrior goddess stuff I needed but hardly exists. Seriously this author doesn't get enough credit. The world building in this series is immense and so cool! Quite original.

I'm into the meat of Limited Wish. It's a rare occasion where I like a middle book as much or more than the first. This story triggers finger chewing anxiety/excitment simply because the suspense of WHAT is going to happen is eating me. I adore the 'time lord' aspect- Doctor Who being one of my all time favorites. As always, Mark's writing is always phenomenal.

Nearly done with this and I already need the next one! It's going to be a intense wait and my heart weeps! Cal! My sweet, sexy, space elf. Auri. My baby out of time. Every. Single. Character. So well written. So relatable. I don't want this to end. I'm in love with the world Kristoff and Kaufman have built. The sarcasm and wit as ever prevalent with Kristoff is so much more with Kaufman as Co author.

This is my very first go round with Kaufman, but I'm a giant Kristoff fan so I want quite sure what ti expect. Illuminae never caught on for me but I think it was simply because of the way I read the characters age I couldn't really get my heart into it. This book is so good! I'm dual Kindle/audible with this one and the audible version is SO WELL DONE! I'm already sad it's almost over already!

It feels good being back with Nona and crew again. Once again Lawrences' ability to transport readers into his world with his characters reigns supreme. I'm just into chapter 9 with Nona in the tower and my heart hurts for Nona going through all her grief again. This book is going to hurt in only the way Mr Lawrence can with his audience.I'm already biting my knuckles about what may happen!

Sad this series is about over it's been a fun ride! Books 1-4 were quick and entertaining! This book, just as good but the MC Nicole who was such a confident bad a$$ in 1-4 kind of turns into a whiny brat in this one! I'm finding her ridiculously obnoxious. this series is definitely a middle grade read but just as fun for an older audience. Hoping MC tightens up on the next few chapters to redeem herself.
