It's interesting that the guy who took over for art from Jack Kirby, Jay Gavin, was actually a pseudonym for Werner Roth. He's the artist for like half of this.

I can only read one issue at a time. It's so hard to not go to sleep while Stan Lee drones on and on. Magneto is a huge prick and can astral project. I'm not sure Stan knows how magnetism works.

The X-Factor team is in flux after the battle against Apocalypse in New York. They've gained his ship as a new base. Beast is getting dumber as he gets stronger until he meets Infectia who causes a big change that we don't get to see in this trade. Archangel is barely in this. Still it's good stuff with the Simonson's writing and drawing it.

The X-Men issues are terrific. I love this era with the X-Men based out of the Australian Outback after they steal the Reavers base. Here you get the first Reavers appearance, a terrific story with the Brood, the first real Genosha story and then a High Evolutionary appearance in the annual. All with Madelaine Pryde slowing turning evil in the background, talking to Sym.

Great stuff with Uncanny X-Men so far. The first appearance of the Reavers and then some classic Brood issues.

What We Can Know About Thunderman
Hidden inside of this short story collection is a 240 page novel. It's Moore talking about a made up comic book publisher that's clearly an analogue for DC. The story jumps around in time from the fifties to 2021 telling various stories affiliated with people working for the company. I gotta say, I expected way more vitriol.

I almost skipped ahead this was so bad. It's about a one celled organism's life. It sounds like it was written by a scientist and it's incredibly dense and dry.

Hypothetical Lizard - 3 Stars
A star who originated at a house of ill report makes it big, leaving her lover behind. But then she returns 5 years later and things begin to go awry.

Not Even Legend - 3 stars
A paranormal activity group is infiltrated by a hidden monster.

So I smushed my nook in the car door over the weekend and cracked the screen inside. I really don't want a new one because my wife has a newer one and it sucks. This 15 year old one worked perfectly until I broke it.
Anyone know if the screen can be replaced? I'm pretty handy if I can find the parts. And it's not like I can break it worse.

This is a surprisingly dense read. It's not so much about the UCLA basketball team of the era as it is about the social issues of the day. At least that's the case for the Lew Alcindor era. Which is fine, because how exciting are 60 year old basketball games going to be when UCLA lost 2 games and won 3 championships when Alcindor played for them.

This thing is terrific. It's ridiculously oversized and packed with full page art, both reprinted and unused concepts from all kinds of stuff. I was surprised at how much DC and Marvel let him reprint pages and designs, especially since Dark Horse published it.

All Ike Perlmutter and Alan Fine cared about was selling toys. There was supposed to be a Runaways movie until Perlmutter killed it because the cast was too diverse. According to him, girls and black people don't buy toys.

Alan Fine said the 2nd Avengers movie would have made an additional billion if he had been allowed to keep control as part of Marvel's Creative Committee. He sounds like a jackass.
