They mainly sell PC games and software. The books are a small subset.

I don't remember if I checked the site when I saw you mention them on the comic group--or I think I followed a link for comics (?) you'd posted about; then I didn't get a chance to go further. But I'll keep an eye on that site for deals, especially for games, so thanks from on my end for letting people know.

You can sign up so you get notified of new deals in an email and you don't have to keep on checking. They typically last for 2/3 weeks.

I've been looking at what the site is, it's history, how it's used, how it functions, etc. I had no idea of a bunch of things about it--it's interesting. It's going to take me some time....

It's simple enough for the book stuff. They put together these bundles of digital books and comics. If you buy them they sit on their servers for as long as they stay in business and you can download them at any time. I do download copies to an external hard drive just in case they ever go under like Comixology did. But I can go through my history and access everything I've ever bought. Mine goes back to 2014. Dark Horse had just about every Star Wars comic on there for crazy cheap right before the license reverted back to Marvel. Same thing happened with Buffy and Angel. The licensed properties show up on there a lot.

The one thing you can (and I always do) is you can change how much of your money goes to the charity. I always change the dial so the charity gets the majority of the money. It's in a hidden slider at the bottom right you have to click on before making your purchase.

Well, I came late to the Star Wars party--I would have loved that....

I wonder how HB pick their outside content to bundle and how people get it up there. I read that HB want DRM free content.

The last 3 years, Dark Horse has put all of its Mike Mignola content up there for $36. That's 30 years of Hellboy, BPRD and all other kinds of content from him. I'm a huge fan.

I mean to get it up there, you just need some server space that people who buy it can pull copies down from. You really only need a couple of servers with an array of hard drives. They probably just have some space they rent from Amazon Cloud Services.

Typically, it's stuff that's been out awhile and isn't selling anymore. At least not until you make several hundreds of dollars of comics available for $18. Image and Dark Horse put their stuff up there a lot. It costs them very little to make them available.

Fanatical does them too. They've got one now that has Saga and Paper Girls in it for $25 plus a lot of other stuff. It's worth it just for those two comics. They are both terrific.

I liked a good deal of Saga. Oh--I didn't realize the outside sellers/bundlers need their own server or server space or whatever. (I mean is that what you're saying? I don't know much about server stuff.) I thought HB behind-the-scenes put the content up on the site, like the content has to be accepted by the site's powers-that-be.

I really like the idea of creators putting up their content and the customers get to figure out what payouts they can afford and what works for them, and what they value more or less out of where their money goes; it's a neat idea, and pretty much I'm all about ideas....

HB does put the content up and maintains it. But because it's always there, they need ever increasing server space.
