I'm in the middle of reading this. I keep putting it down because I want to reach back in time and slap a bunch of officers, politicians, and journalists.

The incidents between MacArthur and Truman were known to me but not the depth of the General's disregard of the chain of command and disrespect of the office of the president.

This book is important.

The language and tone are of its time (post-WWI) so the narrator may sound patronizing and condescending to those who have not read a lot of "popular" or "Mass Market" works for children of that era.

I have no other Welsh folklore to compare these tales against. I cannot judge whether it is an affectation of the author to include seemingly unrelated matters or if Welsh tales always go down rabbit holes.
