So far it's intriguing but because it has become slow moving I have put it aside. I'd prefer to read it when I can give it more brain space and perhaps use sticky notes.

I think I forgot I was reading this.... Not sure where it is so I must've started something else out of boredom

Caroline Quentin's narration is outstanding. Her performance sets the bar so high that I feel it's unreachable for many "professional narrators" I've had the displeasure of listening to. Quentin being a skilled actor and a book lover delivers perfect timing, nuance, and dry humour with aplomb, which brings the story woven by Sue Townsend to life.
The storyline so far is engaging, partly relatable, and funny.

A refreshing change from the usual style of books I pick up. I appreciate the cat, or cats, and both the author and narrator's delivery of the occasional "bollocks" :)

Particularly hard to read because of the cruelty. Very well written. Didn't get to the last few pages because the cruelty was to vivid.

highly articulate, as you'd expect from Mitchell, incisive, and explains fairly (that is to say it focuses on how unfair) the political and economic landscape is in Britain. Depressing (realistic) but delivered in the style we've come to love from Mitchell. Someone new to Mitchell would appreciate his clear explanations, as he makes everyone feel justified in not tracking how many European Fashion Weeks occur.

first few pages were promising. niw a drag, flowery prose, slow pace. might return to this, if only in hope it turns to previous level of readability.

on "pause". I don't enjoy the prose, or voice of narrator. does it have direction, or just meandering to whine? will come back to it in dribs n drabs.
