It's just not my cup of tea.

I was going to tough this out, but reaching the part where he's killing sea turtles out of sheer stubborness brought the realization the this is hardcore not for me. It very much reminds me of the film "A Christmas Story"-- which I also loathe.

Okay, I made it to Chapter 6. This is not for me. I feel like I'm slogging through, trying to get to something engaging. It's a DNF for me, despite the adorable dog on the cover.

I do not like this book. the prose is beautiful, but the stories it tells are miserable and dark. I strongly suspect no happy ending will come of this... but it did kind of set that out in the first few pages, didn't it?

So, page fifty-six, and I am going to move this to dnf. Not because it's badly done or awful-- the part I've read has actually been pretty entertaining, especially the horoscopes-- but because I just have had no urge to pick it up in several weeks. Maybe I'll pick it up again later, or pick and choose bits. But not now.

Seriously, Book. I've become comfortable with disliking you now. This is the umpteenth time you have disappeared while I am trying to finish you. None of the other books are being this way. What is your problem?!!
