🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 haven’t even started the novella and the forward has me chuckling.

I had to google what time period it was set in. Late ‘80s, early ‘90s, apparently. It’s weird, because that’s not the vibe it gives at all. I had guessed ‘60s or ‘70s based on the formality and language - but maybe that’s a rich kid collegiate thing?

Question at 25% - are all the rambling minor events - like Camilla cutting her foot at the lake - relevant to the greater story, or just a part of this author’s storytelling style? Finding the pace sloooooowwww, but then these minor things happen and I’m trying to figure out if they mean anything. 🤔🤔🤔

This is the longest I’ve ever waited for a book from my library. Is it worth the wait?

Oh man, Ms Harrison knows how to write a main character. Cleo jumps off the page with so much nuance and character. She’s not the stale white bread FMC I read all the time these days, and she isn’t trying too hard either. I want to say she’s real, but that makes it sound like she’s super relatable and it’s not necessarily that either. In fact, she’s sometimes quite unlikeable - but in a very real way.

It’s quite strange reading this after having recently read Alchemized.

To Widdershins he called, “Why haven’t you got any nipples?”
