I’m never not enthralled by this book. King’s ability to draw a character with a few lines of dialogue is a gift from the Lord above or perhaps the blessing of cocaine, either way, I love it.

“Hill House,not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it has stood for eighty years and might stand eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.”

Reading for the 125th time.

The cover got me. I feel I should turn myself in to someone for something but I’m unsure what my crime is exactly. Anyhoo… Great cover, great title, take my money.

I’m deleting everything on my TBR. It’s bloated to the point of chaos. Time to swab the decks.

The first story is truly great. I’m gutted.

This is great, great writing. I’m officially enamored.

A long time since I had a visit with Tess. I find as I get older the classics gain a great deal for me.

This starts off slow but now that it’s kicked off it’s going to get me fired for reading on the job.

They’re Not Your Husband - Earl is a real prick.

Neighbors - The grass is indeed always greener.
The Idea - I love this one. Voyeurs peeping on a voyeur topped with hypocrisy and banal misogyny. Carver packs a wallop.

FAT - Not sure what to make of this sad little ditty. I think this is about the beginning of empathy… maybe. I’m really too dumb for Carver but he makes me enjoy the frustration.

This book is hilarious.
