too Hallmark not enough history. I was hoping for more of a flavor of Paris during its hayday. so far none of that. Can't seem to find a book to enjoy lately. Still searching for one but will finish this in a day or two.

A very difficult book to read right now. When the government takes over and your family is a victim how do you respond. Not sure I can continue but it is one of the few books I brought with me on this trip. Feels more dystopian than historical fiction. The troubles are all around us. How do we respond?

the beginning felt long and the end is feeling rushed. Wish it had been the other way around. Yet the writing is great and I recommend it for all the human and writing information.

This is a memoir not a book about her writing. I thought it was the opposite. Thought it was going to be about her writing of her books. I'm still enjoying it much. The part about her living on a farm and her journey to motherhood is excellent. It is just different than I thought the content would be. I love Atwood and value her writing always. Did not realize all her poetry and early beginnings

two things. I like the author reading yet her voice is raspy at times and I am not quite sure yet if it enhances the text. It takes a little getting use to. I've taken to reading more than listening. The second is it is taking a long time to get out of her youth and to the writing part of her life--what I am most interested in. The print (from my library) has great photos that really do enhance the text.

very disappointing. I'm hoping something happens to change my mind. Will be so glad to finish.

Starting to get layered and finding the plot intriguing still not sure how much I like it but feeling a little more hooked

I have to read a few reviews. What am I missing here. The horror is too unrealistic to be actually scary. Overly redundant. how many times can the same acts be interesting. almost 50% and the story just keeps marching in place

I'm not sold on this book yet. It is confusing. It is labeled horror but I am reading it more for its culture and history. It is redundant at times but not one that can be skimmed. I'm trying to stay engaged but not finding that easy though I am finding the Lutheran pastor the most interesting character.

I found myself rushing my reading of this book and decided to slow down. There is a lot happening with great writing it is hard not to drop everything and just sit and read. Wonder if Rindo can keep up the drama.
