Amanda is starting His Name Is George Floyd: One Man's Life and the Struggle for Racial Justice
Libby took back the audiobook 75% of the way in.. Opening astonishing in detail (RIP, Washington Post) humanizes George Floyd w/ancestral info that explains the second part, the Aftermath of his murder and a Nation's reckoning. I hope one day there will be a coda discussing how this period in North American hystory spawned the swamp dwellers of Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 and the 2024 elected Adminstration.

The author, in both his books I've read, shows more solidarity with his female characters than many female authors I've read. It's really something. I love this book so far!

Amanda is starting My Heart Is a Chainsaw (The Indian Lake Trilogy, #1)
Did not finish inspite of many times trying. Excellent writing and I know it's an important work. But I am totally illiterate of the horror genre of films and it was making the read too challenging. I will continue trying because, again, the writing is excellent and the plot important.

I've tried many times. The writing is fantastic. I am not a fan of horror - way too much of a scaredy cat and the references are sailing over my head. Promising concept. Maybe a winter book?

Many times while reading tears have sprung to my eyes from relating. I’ve had to put the book down and just cry from memories. What an honest and brave writer. Real talent is in this voice and this telling. The library took my copy before I finished, but I plan to rectify this soon.

Amanda is starting Cry, the Beloved Country
Book I has been very well-written in a slow, delicious, drawling way. The rhythm of the language is exquisite and understated. Now embarking on Book II.

Amanda is reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane
Chapter 22: this book is really sad but very wonderful. I appreciate how DiCamillo does not condescend to children by glossing over hard emotions.
