I AM CRYING SO HARD

I already thought this book was extremely similar to Daughter of the Moon Goddess in a lot of ways but now we're even talking about Hou'yi and the nine sunbirds

so none of them had called upon their armies yet? who was fighting the mo, then? makes no sense

He pauses, and I swear, no one has ever held me in their eyes like he does in this instant. THIS MAN.

I can't remember ever feeling this understood, feeling like someone has taken the walls I have spent all these years building around myself, knocked them down, and pulled out the girl I long buried deep inside.

I get why he loves her, really. But I still think this is more of a platonic love. She doesn't truly love him. He's the one you choose with your head, not your heart

how is she even allowed to do that with the covenant in place? this is not making sense to me

Girl deep down you know he is the one, you want to convince yourself you want the golden good guy but you don't.

he will die for her, i'm calling it now. that is what's going to happen in this book. yu'chen will die for her so that she can win the war and get the life she wants

I remember nothing from book 1 other than I was properly in love with Yu'chen. What made me love him? Couldn't tell you

I would rather be taken advantage of now and again than go through life seeing villains everywhere

But I liked Yannick, and I wanted us to be honest with each other. I cannot stand the layers of politeness and convention that obscure most social interactions like curtains over the windows of a house; I prefer to open my heart to people, even if it sometimes gets me in trouble.
