Grossly engaging....

I've been too busy writing to read much of anything lately, but this book has been interesting. Maybe I'll download something off of audiobook to lull me to sleep, but since I've been so exhaustred by the end of the day there is little left of me I don't think that shall do.

Compelling stuff. I am happy goodreads recommended it to me.

If I can't get my nine & ten year old niece and nephew into it then I suppose it has failed to achieve its goal, but I will read on to see what I would of thought as a child.

I'm about halfway through part 2 of the 3 part audiobook of Swann and I am happy Murakami recommended it to his readers.

Modern day Dante's Inferno/Paradise Lost. Oh what big balls you have! Pure genius! By audiobook I get lulled into slumber every night by Madison Spencer's letters to Satan. Daddy would be so proud! My avid fundamentalist Christianity turned Buddhism turned agnosticism turned Dawkins atheism has finally reached full circle with this hedonistic intellectual pontification on Americana called Satanism. Yes! Yes! Yes!

Still don't care about these characters.....

Its hard for me to take a book seriously that is so creatively void that the name of the main character is just a spinoff of the name of the author and where in the second chapter the name of the cafe is also the name of a character mentioned.

Since the only other oral histories I've read were from Howard Zinn & Studds Turkel, I'm really struggling to get into this. I know its taken from various perspectives, but the voice for all characters sound nauseatingly identical. Maybe David Mitchell has spoiled me.

If only I could find a bilingual edition. I think I would prefer to read this in French.

Where the bloody hell is the plot? I made it to Chapter 15 by audiobook, lulling me into my slumber, and now today I am attempting to read this assault of the senses while conscious. So where is it?

My creationist in-laws have kept this book hostage.

So far so good. Oh God don't let this writer start so very perfect then crash & burn in the middle like so many others do.

I've skipped around a bit after reading the intro and found myself appalled at the misinformation in this book. His education is of all the wrong books! Howard Zinn would shake his head. I agree with his thesis thus far, but I am not convinced his had valid evidence just yet.

The font is huge! This is more of a novella than a novel. Some of the character justifications are getting a bit redundant and the vocabulary of the writer should never be as limited as their notably ignorant main character's IQ. Jus' sayin'. But this thing should've been a movie from the start. It's written too poorly to be a novel. It reads like a screenplay.

ROFLMAO. Jesus this is funny. It's like discovering Chuck Palahniuk for the first time, Madonna's "Like A Virgin" playing in the background.

I had my hands on a copy from the university of Louisville on inter-library loan in Owen county but took a studio in Frankfort & had to return it :( Now in an actual town and their copy is out. DVD on order. Lately it has become increasingly difficult to locate books I want. Right Che?
