it’s hard to watch sciona reflect prejudice onto others when she faces it so much herself. it’s such a horrid cycle. hoping to see growth there in hopes that she learns more and shifts her perspective.

I feel like this book is not long enough for the ambition it has. it’s making the pacing feel inconsistent and the plot line a little repetitive.

I am seeing the Addie comp, but it’s making me not like a character because of it.

I feel like I’m seeing little pieces of the larger setup to this world that is still a bit of a mystery. can’t say Paige’s decisions don’t stress me out, but I’ll put my trust in Samantha

getting back to this today. I’m quite enjoying it, but why is Paige lowly kind of dumb.

I am really back and forth on this one. the first book didn't feel YA at all even though it was listed as one, but this one feels much more YA and conflicted at times in its tone. ugh, I don't know, maybe it's just me.

the only reason this is YA is because the publishing industry hates women of color. this book was not written as YA and I can tell. I’m loving it and I hate to know they held my Sophie back 😭😭😭 reeeeeeallllly loving this!!

very much enjoying this one so far! I love sophie's writing, and while you can tell this is her first book, it still has such a solid world and an amazing main character. love the inclusion of the gods because it reminds me of y sweet soekga
