Very good so far. Lots of intertwined themes, plus the novels is the first of a series called The Key to All Mythologies which is a nod to Middlemarch. So I’m already reading into that connection. Also I know he has a few nods to David Foster Wallace so maybe I need to finally read Infinite Jest 😂 It’s really a character study of a family and their morality amongst so many other intertwined themes.

Totally get why everyone is obsessed with this book. I’m going to need to take myself out to get Korean food for a me date soon. Been listening in public which has helped keep the tears at bay…a little.

The food descriptions in this book make me incredibly hungry but it is also so so sad and from the get go you are sad but it also is really beautiful in its depiction of grief and the grieving process especially when you are doing it all at once for a long time with someone who is terminally ill.

Love this book so much already.

This book is so so good def recommend. I’m going to easily finish in a day I think.

Oof as someone who has done graduate school and considered a PhD this books has some all too real feelings. Academia was hard enough as a queer white woman, I can’t even imagine that experience as a queer black man, but this book does an incredible job at showing the gaslighting, loneliness, confusion and labor of existing in the predominantly white spaces of academia at a graduate level. So so good.
