I am unable to handle the cliché writing. From "I love that for me" (every three chapters) to the gratuitous use of 'shocking' language. This is very much ChatGPT meets The Hallmark Channel, but as explicit as possible. The MMC repulses me, and random divination and witchcraft are confusing.

Uhoh… this book gave me the ick.

This is cute, so far. It's lyrical and whimsical, and it reads like a fable.
It gives me 'Gilded' by Marissa Meyer meets 'Furthermore' by Mafi with, I suppose, a dash of romance (?) vibes.
I anticipate my thoughts on this will change as I progress past 30%.

So far, this book takes the award for the most unlikeable cast of characters. Not a single one has any redeeming qualities. I sympathize with the two children and the fumbling brother-in-law (not Christopher, mind you. I hope that guy gets eaten by a ghost.)

ughhhhh. Make it end.

Gahhh, I’m tired on this series. I’ve spent the summer reading these and I’m over it. I’m in need of a “why choose?” break.
