Excellent translation. I read fiction for the love of character development, and the first quarter of the novel is spent doing so in detail. I appreciate how Dostoevsky develops and connects each main character’s backstory, philosophy, and temperament — all essential to the story.

Hooked already. I’m shocked at how little people change across time and geography.

Loved Atwood’s story! Read a dud and then another gem. Will pick up again for short in-between reads.
