Rachel is starting Five Novels: Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations
I’m reading David Copperfield, for now, and slowly because this chunker of a volume can be awkward at times. The writing is brilliant, though.

I’m savoring this slowly because it’s so good. “Best Cousin” by Tayari Jones and “Coal Smoke” by Silas House are visceral. I hadn’t heard of House before. Turns out he’s the Kentucky poet laureate right now and is a goldmine resource for Appalachian art. And the amount of talent the editor Shannon Ravenel has shone a spotlight upon in her time is staggering!

Absolutely rhapsodic, so far. Accurately titled. “…a tomato, an adventure.”

I’m not sure where this will go, but it’s amazing so far. The only other book I’ve read by this author was well-written, but the characters were so affected and irritating. I couldn’t tell if that was intentional or not, but it was compelling enough to finish. The energy of this book is stronger than the other, and very moving.

Rachel is reading French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure
i returned this without finishing it. i like her writing, but can't really wallow in the whole idea that long. i do like the messages of "get moving" and "savor your pleasures".
