starting this after having enjoyed Mazzei's "Cam" 2018 movie

on minute 5 of the audiobook, Miller says "only people that were abused as children can be interested in BDSM." so i had to look up when the book was originally written. the answer is 1979. this book is very short, so i'll still give it a try, but definitely have my reservations.

this book is just as delicious on reread. it makes me want to cry tears of joy.

one of the protagonists is blind and i’m very curious how the book is going to handle that. is it going to perpetuate myths about disability or give meaningful representation?

this is the first book i’ve read in a while that is not written from (a) specific perspective(s). on the same page we hear private thoughts of multiple characters. knowing where everyone stands in each conversation or interaction makes for a different kind of experience.

a dystopian novel that focuses solely on the protagonists and the relationships between them. it's tantalizing how little is revealed about the big picture.
