British title is “Coroner’s Pidgin,” and that’s the title used for Audible audiobook

I’ve dipped and dived through about a third of this book of essays, and unfortunately my library time is up - so I’ll sign up for the waiting list again — as at her best, Atwood is insightful, revealing, and entertaining on the subjects of nature, ecology, writing, literature, and human nature.

Trying FW again, reading a page/day with the #JoyceEveryDay Twitter reading group. It’s slow going, often puzzling and obscure, but also very funny as Joyce uses puns and wordplay to reinvent cliched language.

These are wonderful essays on the natural world and the author’s observations and reactions. I may have to get my own copy when this one goes back to the library.

I’m enjoying this memoir of food and family, read by the author

The English title is Deep Sea, and that’s the version I’m reading. For some reason, GR hasn’t added the English version to its database.

Book 6 - the duel between the protagonist and his friend, a young poet

Book 5 brought a strange dream, a ball, and a book peddler selling odd volumes in rural Russia

Wonderfully read by Miriam Margolyes. Wonderfully written by Charles Dickens. I had forgotten how many orphans and/or poorly parented children there are — from Esther to Richard and Ada to Charlie, Tom, and Emma to Caddy Jellyby and Prince Turveydrop to Guster to Jo.

I can’t resist revisiting Bleak House in the company of reader/actress Miriam Margolyes.
