Only a bit into this, and it’s already amazing. I begin to think Nghi Vo will never run out of ways to tell stories about stories. 😍

Oh, how I love this book, this prose. I had not forgotten precisely, but there is always even more to it than I remembered.

I’ve barely started, and already this is super-fascinating: the grounding in the political youth movements pre-war, for instance, and the reasons why (as I’d heard the author remark in explaining what the book was about) Jewish girls and women could pass as gentiles far more easily than boys and men. Delicious CONTEXT!
