Holy hell I did not see that coming

I'm being lured into a false sense of security and I hate it. (love what is happening)

I have never really enjoyed Shirley Jackson before despite trying, but The Summer People was an absolute banger of dread.

Sometimes you hit a point in a book where you just have to set it down and walk away for a bit.

The amount of times I've caught myself saying, "Jesus. Fuck." while reading this book has gotten ridiculous.

Just a giant ball of tension right from the rip. Flying through this so far

Too close to the end to have to stop, but not enough time to finish it which I would if I could. Just moves at a ripping pace.

Never have I ever witnessed such a harrowing and intense game of Hearts, and you don't know my in-laws.

Meeting a lot of wayward girls not getting a lot of witchcraft...

"Remember, when you are trapped in this life, that often whatever liberates you, whatever transports you, must drag you by the hair to yank you free."

Every now and again I want to give this book a standing ovation. Now is the perfect time.
"And there, but for the grace of God, go I..."

I'm not sure what the "best book ever written" is, but this is likely better than that.

Really need this to pick back up.

Really just want to finish this at this point. When all hell is about to break loose it's hard to get up and go to work.

Checks a lot of boxes for lil Joey. Really bringing me back to my younger days.

What an awful time to have to go back to work.

Took a little longer to feel as dangerous as the last book, but I can now tell it was just simmering. This is some hard stuff to read sometimes. Love it.

And this book is for Young Adults? Holy hell it's brutal.

Reading a little too much like the town I grew up in and that is both excellent and disconcerting.

Absolute b-movie grade trash in a novel. Loving every word of it.
