I'm reading the sections out of order but Benjamin's journal entries about Brecht are a delight.

What on earth am I reading?

I'm loathe to finish it because it's an amazing soporific.

This book is not good. Finishing it to get my dumb June badge from Goodreads...

So far it's one of the better Eco-Fiction books. Hopefully it doesn't collapse at the end like Irene Rey or that Hummingbird book

Unfortunately the strong start is getting bogged down in explanations and translations.

After reading middling to bad fiction, his prose is a breath of fresh air.

Avoid this book. I've been reading this book in order to fall asleep at night. I think if it was a fantasy England, that didn't pretend to be like real England I could appreciate it more. As it is, I struggle with how English history fits with this bizarro realm. What was the War of the Roses like? How does trade actually work?

I'm enjoying this epic but it is long...
