This is the most "tell, don't show" book I've ever read. And I can't tell if it's a genre thing or a García Sáenz de Urturi thing.

I don't read detective novels often, and I'm cackling at the clunky exposition. So many conversations where the detective is like, "Please tell me what this book is about" with the other character filling him in.

Not into the sections written in the second person, I'm glad they eventually switch to third person, BUT it does make me wonder why there was a need for second person then.

What's going onnnn with Martín and Carlos.

Also, Carmen Laforet out there breeding animosity against doctors and their families. If she only knew about the year of our lord 2026 and the anti-vax movement.

Have to mention the stalker Michael Owen Perry who was obsessed with Olivia Newton-John. At some point it becomes clear he intends to kill her, so she's hauled to a safe house while detectives comb through the brush around her Malibu house. They come across not one, but TWO stalkers hiding in the brush, none of which is Perry, which is wild af.

Perry was actually in D.C. stalking another potential victim.

The new Goodreads layout was terrible. I had to download a Chrome extension to change the whole color scheme on the site. It actually works and I don't find myself tearing up if I want to write a long review.

I'm surprised by how similar it actually is to the TV show. Being a real diary, in the 80s, I thought it'd be a way different animal.

I was going to read Kitchen, by Banana Yoshimoto, but it turns out my edition is in Italian. :P

With the HBO doc coming out, I thought I'd give this one a read.

I'm going snail pace with this book, but not because I don't like it. On the contrary, it's much more entertaining than people give it credit for.
