look obviously this book is ridiculous and the heroine is TSTL, but I love it anyway.

P97 and gritting my teeth trying not to DNF. The author adopts a messed-up dog, then makes the dog everyone else's problem, making zero effort to provide it a stable environment and appropriate training.

I'm assuming this improves later, but after her confessions of abusing animals to death as a child, who knows?

nearly halfway through and it feels like I've been reading this book forever. Does it ever develop a plot?
...70 or so pages later: I'm finding myself sitting up playing Candy Crush at night rather than pick up this book. Might be time to move on.

I'm reading this for the readharder challenge, but frankly I'm finding it dire. The male gaze is icky, and the pacing is all over the place. Should have been edited down to 250-280 pages.

Am finding this one pretty hard going. Soldiering on...

Why is this book such a giant sausagefest? Why are the women treated so appallingly by the author? Does Luo Ji stay this much of an odious creep? Why am I inside his misogynist brain so much? Ick ick ick. The first book wasn't at all like this.

Much as I welcome a book about Pwd written by PwD, I am still uncomfortable about some of this book. Does being a white guy who is blind really put you in a good position to write the experience of a black middle-aged woman with breast cancer who is sexually harassed at work?

I've been doing that thing where I delay reading "worthy" novels. But this is amazing, engaging and very easy to read (prose-wise; deals with horrifying subject matter of course).

Why are there so many goddam crotch shots?

This book is literally the best thing ever....
