I almost gave up on this book, but told myself to read one more chapter. Something clicked. What appeared to be a meandering mess synced into a deliberate building of some unknown culmination.

The more I read, the stronger the connections come.

I've been deeply impressed by DeLillo's writing. He does an incredible job of capturing the subconscious blips and fragments of memory that pop up in our daily thoughts.

Daniel is starting Message To The Blackman In America
My knowledge of Elijah Muhammad barely qualifies as ignorance. My familiarity with the man and his words are based solely around the orbit of Malcolm X. I know even less about Louis Farrakahn. I've decided to bridge that gap in my understanding. I'm interested to see how I respond to Muhammad's message.

Twyla is definitely a mess, but man do I love her as a character. My hat is off to Attenberg I've had to take a break from the book to pace around my house and deal with the ramifications. Awesome book!

Centered around the death of a man and how that impacts his family, the story weaves the family's interactions and life with each other with an undercurrent of loneliness that takes your breath away. Attenberg has done a great job putting her finger on something universal yet unspoken about our families and I applaud her for treating that uncomfortable truth with such tender craftmanship. Tears will come.

This is my second reading of this book. I got a ton out of my first read and thought this book was awesome. During my second read, I'm astonished with how much deeper my immersion and understanding of the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras is expanding. This book is genuinely life changing.

The scrivener/excel template you get with this book is worth the price of admission as well. It's a short book, but being 20 pages in it really does pack in some good information with no fluff.

Deadpool is always hilarious but one will enjoy this more if they've read the original Secret Wars.
