as i reread i relate with Poppy in a new way in how it feels being stuck in your parents’ house again. even if this book is fiction, it eases something within me knowing there’s a FMC who still struggles with what she wants to do and who to be and her feelings for a boy in her late 20s/early 30s. it serves as a reminder that my own life isn’t on any specific timeline other than the one i give myself.

I’m so confused. I *think* Cadence is hallucinating, and I also think her apparent amnesia has to do with why no one is emailing or texting back and why Gat isn’t around anymore. However, I’m confused on the timeline. Nothing makes sense because she keeps flip-flopping back and forth 🥲

BJL is honestly so talented voiceover-wise. The impersonation of Pam makes me sit up straighter (meaning it’s uncomfortable) and is audibly grating like I’m sure Pam’s physical presence was. The CMM vocal cameo was also welcomed surprise! Hopefully some of BJL’s other costars will cameo as well.

She slept for TWO DAYS??? after taking that weird “cough syrup” ??? All the alarm bells are going off in my head and my heart is in my stomach at the thought of BJL going though this at an age younger than i am now

my heart hurts for Margaret in carrying the guilt of her aunt’s passing and feeling the need to shoulder all the attention her sister’s sake

three things:
1. i think Jodi is some kind of relative to Margaret
2. on the topic of Margaret, how did the name Peggy become a nickname? (and i mean this for all Margarets, not just this one, as it seems to be universally accepted)
3. i think the memoir/autobiographies name is gonna be The Great Big Beautiful Life, either by itself or with something following like …of Margaret Ives (or maybe even Irene Mayberry)

i can’t help but point out the juxtaposition to Theo earlier in the chapter. of course Hayden would be direct as opposed to the situationship Alice mulls over for the entire chapter because she can’t figure out what his intentions are

how refreshing it is to see an adult authority figure in media portrayed as the adult authority figure we wished for as a kid. one who didn’t say it was just your imagination or not believe you wholeheartedly. one who was on your side and actually want to hear your input regarding the problem at hand. ❤️‍🩹

my theory right now is that Harriet is actually Matilda’s daughter who was taken in by Donna.

i know genetics can skip generations and it’s been reiterated that Harriet looks nothing like her mom. Harriet never lives up to her mother’s expectations, and she looks most like her aunt. Her sister also gets treated better and there’s whatever her mom and her aunt always fought about.
