I sort of feel like I’m getting to know Shannon, but only from the outside. This is a weirdly impersonal biography. I don’t mind as I love intellectual biographies, but there’s still little sense of Claude Shannon THE PERSON besides Claude Shannon the introvert who loved jazz. At the same time I don’t quite grasp HOW he thought through problems. Too smart by half
